Claims Administration ServiceIn addition to its work in regard to individual matters, Hanson Peters Nye provides program-wide services to underwriters, managing agents and others in connection with a number of different insurance coverage areas. Hanson Peters Nye has been appointed to administer, manage and handle professional liability claims for several Nationwide Insurance Programs including the handling and defense of claims against, and the insurance afforded to, many different types of professionals. In some cases that work involves receiving, acknowledging, memorializing and communicating claims notifications in regard to particular insurance programs. In other cases, the Firm's efforts include analysis not only of specific claim situations but also program-wide exposures and trends. In that capacity the Firm not only receives and acknowledges claim notifications on an across-the-board basis, but also provides the insurer or the program manager with ongoing status reports, statistical analyses, and underwriting support based on the lessons learned from claims development. With more than fifteen years of experience, Hanson Peters Nye has particular insights as to claim handling, notification and circumstance notification issues, the needs of underwriters, claims handlers and actuaries for accurate and timely information, and the need for accurate historical data on claims, claim development and reserving strategy. Although Hanson Peters Nye has performed such work in regard to a number of professional liability insurance programs, it is particularly experienced and adept in providing claims administration services in regard to directors and officers, errors and omissions, and employment practices liability programs. Through its experience the Firm has been able to alert its clients to developing trends and nascent underwriting challenges long before they become the subject of industry discussion groups. The historical database accumulated by the Firm makes it possible for underwriters to validate underwriting decisions with historical data while at the same time allowing claims personnel to identify the most successful strategies for dealing with the challenges of the claims world. By customizing its approach for the needs of each client, Hanson Peters Nye has developed claims administration systems that capture the type of information that proves useful both to claims handlers and to underwriters and actuaries. The consistency of approach that results from this centralized claims administration process allows not only for uniform treatment of parallel claims situations but also for capture and transmittal of data on a consistent and expedited basis. The Firm's experience in this area has caused it to develop useful links with the brokerage community that has increasingly become responsible for providing notices to insurers under various programs of insurance.
